Back!

I can't believe it's five years since I last wrote.  I was never a prolific nor regular poster but truly hadn't realized that five years had gone by.  I'm a better blog reader than a blog writer.  

I'm getting ready to retire in 1 1/2 years and am working hard this year to prepare.  That means I need to tidy up some unfinished business so I can start retirement with a clean(er) slate.  I'm making a list of UFOs which made me think about this old blog.  None of the projects I previously listed as UFOs are finished yet AND I've added several more to the list.  I'm a good starter and sadly not so much a finisher.  

I'm happy to have the previous pages for history.  I make notes now when I'm working on a quilt.  I didn't do that before.  The Monster Book of Monsters block (pictured above) is from Fandom of Stitches.  It's part of a Harry Potter Quilt, called Project of Doom (POD) that I started in 2017.  It's paper pieced and took 6 hours to make, not counting the 5 years in between start and finish.

The Monster Book is eating another book.  The text fabric represents the book that is being eaten.  I specifically selected certain sections of the text as secret (or not so secret) messages for the recipient.  The adjacent block will have the ripped book.  I'm not sure when I'm going to make that block.  Maybe during my next vacation as it has several small pieces which will take a bit of concentration.
