Stash Report

I washed and ironed over 24.25 yards of fabric I inherited from my SIL.  That's not counting the many, many pieces that were smaller than 1/8 of a yard.  I'm almost finished sorting through her stash.  Her tastes were very different than mine, but I'm sure I'll find a use for all of it. 

I knit every day this past week.  I knit a pair of slippers and sewed a vest for a leprechaun.  I didn't take photos and neither took much yarn/material.  (American Girl size - 18 inch doll).  I donated 4.5 yards to Value Village.

No new or inherited/found fabric this week.  I stitched EVERY day.  I finished my fourth shawl of the year.  (None are blocked yet.)  However, I also sewed yesterday and today.  I was determined to finish at least two blocks for my POD, and I did!  Yahoo! 

The crystal ball was  already finished so I just added the books on either side.  Total time to make this block - 1 hour, 55 minutes.

Quirrell's turban was a major challenge for me, but it should have been.  A simple mistake, followed by a totally silly error made while trying to fix the first mistake wasted 80 minutes of sewing.  Total time to make this block - 3 hours, 20 minutes.  (I include all of the sewing time, even the errors.  I don't include the time spent choosing fabric.  That would scare me!  Indecision, indecision...)

I ironed 9 more yards of the fabric I inherited from my SIL.  I'm beginning to see the end of this particular tunnel.  😊 Thank goodness!  I really do want to get to sewing and quilting soon...

I stitched every day - knit every day, and some sewing.  IO finished a shawl for the Christmas Box.  I still need to block and photograph it.  I've started another shawl and have it about 40 % finished.  Easy knitting.  Mousseux on Raverly.

I stitched 1.5 hours yesterday on a block for my POD.  I should have been able to finish it, except that I totally messed up and wasted all the sewing.  I ripped more than I sewed and everything I fixed was still wrong.  I have part of Quirrel's turban finished, and the crystal ball ready to have books on the sides, but no completed block's this week. 

I still haven't started sewing on the Land Before Times QAL.  Too many things I want to sew!

I did wash, iron and fold A LOT.  26.5 yards from my inherited stash.  I washed more, but haven't finished ironing and folding.  I'll count that pile when it's ready to put in the cupboard.

I stitched a minimum of 60 minutes every day this week!  Yahoo!  I knit every day, and I sewed on Saturday and Sunday. 

The printer still isn't working, so I haven't started the Land Before Time QAL.  I finished the cauldron for the POD.  A productive week overall.

This week I purchased 3.5 yards to use for the Land Before Time QAL.  I have yet to start the blocks though, because my printer isn't working properly.  I did sew for 50 minutes today on my POD, but not a stitch of any kind throughout the week.  Argh!  I'll try to stitch more this week.

Let's try this again!  My sewing room is clean and tidy.  My fabric and other supplies are neatly organized.  My quilting fabrics are counted and hopefully this year I actually FINISH SOMETHING!

Total fabric used last year was 2 yards.  Wow!  That was just one top.  I added 35.75 yards and have an estimated yardage on hand of 315.22 yards.  Ha!  Not true!  I've been cleaning out closets and drawers.  Lots more yardage to be added to my total, most of it gifted.  Additionally, I haven't counted any of the flannels.  Sigh.  I do need to sew S O M E T H I N G.

So...for 2018, my word of the year is my resolution.  STITCH - This year I plan to stitch a minimum of 18 minutes every day.  Yesterday I sewed for 2 hours and today I sewed for an hour.  Good start.

I've been thinking about Jennifer Ofenstein's Project of Doom (Harry Potter quilt) for a few years.  Last summer I organized and prepared.  Yesterday, I actually stitched.  Yahoo.  I'm participating in the new QAL on FaceBook, so hopefully I can keep up and sew at least one block each week for the next 30 weeks.

I'm not going to count wool this year.  I did quite a bit of knitting last year and finished several items, but lost track of counting it.  Compared to quilting fabric, I really don't have much yarn.  :-)
