Hand of Glory and March Stash Report

Hand of Glory - 3 hours.  The seams were quite thick around and between the fingers.  I had to persuade them into submission with a few whacks of my clapper.  A lady on the POD FaceBook page suggested I steam the seams after I open them to press.  I'll try that with the next thick seam.

I started the Stained Glass Mermaid unit.  3 hours and 35 minutes and still more than hour to go.

Fabric Purchases for March:

Holy Hannah!  I almost doubled the amount of fabric purchased already this year!  21.5 meters purchased in March and 21.55 meters for January and February combined.  Most of the fabric is for my POD.  A few are for my New York Beauty quilt I'm making for my Great Niece.

Total Fabric Purchases for 2023:  43.05 metres

March Break Progress!

I finished the block for the Deathly Hallows.  It took 5 hours and 20 minutes in total, including 2 hours for the Deathly Hallows and 3 hours for the book with the dark mark on it.

I also finished the block with the Quidditch goggles.  It took 6 hours and 20 minutes in total, including 5 hours and 20 minutes for the goggles themselves.

I finished several components but haven't finished their blocks yet.

The Quick Quotes Quill took 1 hour and 30 minutes

The Cornish Pixie took 4 hours and 15 minutes.  It could be a block all on its own.  I'm thinking of joining it with another block - something to show the Pixie's mischievous nature.

The Unicorn bookend took 2 hours.

The Felix Felicius took 1 hour and 30 minutes.  I'm not happy with the neck of the bottle.  I will likely do it over again.

Slytherin's Locket took 3 hours.  I didn't include the pieces for the chain because |I'm not sure just yet where I'm putting the locket.  I'm planning to embroider a chain when I figure that out.  Maybe I'll put the locket and the Pixie together.  The Pixie could be trying to steal the locket.

Luna's Spectrespecs took 4 hours and 15 minutes.  They're pretty funky!  😆

Not bad progress for a week!

Flying Ford Angelina

Oops!  I forgot to post last week's work.  The Flying Ford Angelina took 4 hours and 45 minutes.

I was going to put this and the Howler above the Ripped Book that the Monster Book of  Monsters ripped, but I think it's too busy.  I'll have to rethink where I put this component.

Deathly Hallows

A very busy week!  I thought I would get more sewing done, but then I began to fret about what fabrics to use for books in my POD.  Why?  Who knows, but I fret I did - enough to spend several hours cleaning my sewing room.  Procraticleaning.  LOL

I did sew one component for my POD.  The Deathly Hallows took 2 hours.  Funny!  When I first started sewing on the POD again, I thought the Dealthly Hallows would be a big challenge.  Um!  Not so much after making the Death Eater's Mask.  😏

Howler

It was a busy weekend and not much time for sewing. The Howler took me 3 hours and 10 minutes.  I struggled with joining Part A to Part B to Part C and finally decided it was what it was.

I started the Flying Ford Angelina but haven't taken any photos yet.

Stash Report for February:

0.2 metres!  That's it!  I was looking for a few fabrics for my POD and stopped in at Fabricland this weekend.  Sticker Shock!  Their newer quilting cotton are $27.00 and $38.00 a metre!  I try to shop locally, but I can't see paying this much for fabric, especially when I can buy it online for half of this.

Total Fabric Purchases for 2023:  21.55 metres

Not for the Faint of Heart - Lucius Malfoy's Death Eater Mask

I'm committed to making at least one block or one major component of a block each week.  It's a good thing this was a long weekend - Family Day in Ontario - or I would not have completed this block.  12 hours and 25 minutes!  I haven't decided if I'm going to include Lucius' wand so will finish the block later.

There are 214 pieces in this mask!  I thought about giving up but am happy I stuck with it.  It's time to make something a bit easier though.  Phew!

I am amazed at what I see in a photograph that I don't see in real life!  Look at the first photo I took of this mask.

It looked ok on the wall.  It wasn't until I was looking at the photo when I was uploading it to the computer that I noticed the errors.  See the circles below.

I ripped back a portion of three sections and replaced three black pieces with gray fabric, sewed the three seams back together and voila!  The end result is the first photo above.

Bonus:  DH thinks it looks like a mask!  Yahoo!
